Using Blackboard for History 121 and 122
Instructor: J. Sage

Blackboard is course delivery system of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). When you enroll in an NVCC class you are also enrolled in the Blackboard site for that course. The Course pages in Blackboard link you to most of what you need to participate in this course. The materials on the Academic American web site have not been duplicated in Blackboard, but links from Blackboard back to the web site are provided.

What you need to do in Blackboard.

  1. Check Weekly Announcements in Blackboard for continuing course information. I post them on weekends, so you should check early every week. Be sure to scroll down through the announcements to be sure you see all of them.
  2. Quizzes and Exams. You will take all your quizzes and exams through Blackboard. For the midterm and final you will need to go to a campus testing center or other proctored location. Practice quizzes and exams are not graded and you may take them as often as you like.
  3. Discussion Forums. Your course has a discussion area where you can introduce yourself and discuss topics relating to the course. Individual discussions are not graded, but regular participation is required for the course. You earn 100 points for participation in all four course forums. Regular participation is required—you should make a contribution at kleast every week.
The entry point to access all your Blackboard courses is http://learn.vccs.edu. Just click on Login—you will need a logon name and password which you can find through the NVCC web site, which provides all the information you need to log into Blackboard.
